The 2027 UEFA Champions League final will take place at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain, following UEFA’s decision to select the venue over Azerbaijan’s Baku Olympic Stadium.
Rafael Louzán, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), confirmed the news, stating that Spain will also host the 2025 UEFA Europa League final at San Mamés in Bilbao. He also expressed interest in proposing Seville’s La Cartuja as a future host for European finals.
The decision comes after UEFA removed Milan’s San Siro from hosting the 2027 final due to ongoing construction work at the stadium and its surroundings. UEFA had postponed the announcement of a replacement venue while awaiting guarantees regarding San Siro’s refurbishment.
The Metropolitano, which has a capacity of over 70,000, previously hosted the 2019 Champions League final, where Liverpool defeated Tottenham 2-0. The stadium has since remained a key venue for major football events.
The 2027 final is scheduled for June 5, with the match expected to attract global attention as Europe’s top clubs compete for the prestigious trophy.
