Mavericks Silence Quintessence with a 2-0 Win in Ligue des Campeones II

L egal Mavericks sealed a 2-0 victory over Legal Quintessence in a heated encounter at Olabisi Onabanjo University sport centre in the early of yesterday.

The match kicked off at 11 a.m., with both teams struggling to create any real goal-scoring opportunities in the first half. The game lacked attacking spark, and neither side could break through before the halftime whistle.

The second half, however, was a different story. Mavericks came out stronger, pushing forward with intent. Their breakthrough came when captain Blaq Law was fouled just outside the box. Jomi the player of the match, stepped up and curled a brilliant free kick into the net to put Mavericks ahead resulting in 1-0 againts Quintessence.

The goal sparked chaos, as Sola from Quintessence furiously protested the foul decision. He received a yellow card for dissent but kept arguing. Moments later, the referee showed him a second yellow, sending him off and leaving Quintessence with ten men.

With the advantage, Mavericks struck again. A long free kick from just past the halfway line was sent into the box, where Sammy controlled it well and buried the ball in the net to make it 2-0.

Quintessence had one big chance to respond, a four-on-one counterattack led by Samuel, Sino, Iyanu, and another attacker. But in a shocking turn, the lone Mavericks defender stood his ground, cleared off their attacks.

Their final attempt came when Sino tried to whip in a cross, but it deflected into a shot. The Mavericks’ goalkeeper reacted quickly, making a comfortable save. Before Quintessence could attempt anything else, the final whistle blew.
